Linear uses Microsoft Power BI as its reporting tool, optimized within the system to visualize all key metrics relevant to brokerage operations. Whether you are viewing data for an individual agent, an entire company, or a full group structure, business performance can be monitored across all levels through the reports.
Note: To ensure the Reporting section works properly, make sure your web browser (e.g., Chrome, Safari) is up to date. Older browser versions may cause issues with data visualization.
The Reporting tool can be found as its own section in the left-hand navigation menu:
Report data is updated automatically at the top of every hour. The timestamp of the most recent update can be found in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Reporting serves all users in the company, depending on their role. Users with the Administrator or Main user role can view not only their own figures but also the company-level metrics. Users with the Realtor role can only view their personal figures.
If the company is part of a group and the user operates in multiple Linear environments, the company/environment selector in the top-right corner allows switching between environments. Reports can also be viewed from the group’s parent environment to see all group-level metrics.
Reporting is divided into separate sections or tabs, each of which is explained in more detail in its own article. The categories include:
- Summary
- Commissions
- Invoices
- Additional services
- Assignments
- Inventory
- Sales
- Sales/Acquisition
- Leads
- Activity
- Feedback
The views and available actions vary slightly between the tabs. Below are some of the most commonly used helpful functions:
- Filters – You can filter data on the report, for example invoices by commission recipient or due date.
- Table view – Switch the report to table format.
- Graph view – Switch the report to graphical format.
- Focus mode – Expands the table or chart to full-page view.
- More options – The three-dot menu opens additional report functions.
- Export data – Allows you to download the report data as an Excel file from the system.
- Up arrow – Clicking the arrow moves you up one level in the chart hierarchy. If the arrow is greyed out, you are already at the top level.
- Down arrow – Clicking the arrow enables drill-down mode. When active, the arrow turns orange, and you can click a data point (item 5) to drill into it.
- Double down arrows – Clicking allows you to drill down one level in the hierarchy. Unlike the regular drill-down, this enables drilling into multiple data points at once.
- Split down arrows – Clicking takes you directly to the lowest level of the hierarchy.
- Data point – A data point shows the total for the filtered values in the graphical report. You can drill into data points using the arrows shown on the chart.
If you want to select multiple items from a filter menu, hold the CTRL key (on Mac: Command) while clicking.
NOTE: Don’t hesitate to try out different buttons to see how they affect the report. Reporting does not allow you to modify any actual data, such as invoice details—the report only displays information pulled from elsewhere in the system. If you notice an error in the report, correct it in the appropriate place. For example, if an invoice appears as Under review, you can find it in the Invoices section and approve it there. Also keep in mind that the report updates only on the hour, so any corrections will not appear immediately.
