Changing your password
You can change the password you use to sign in to Linear in User settings, on the Security tab. To change your password, first enter your current password, then enter the new password twice (first in the New password field and then in the Confirm password field). You can click the eye icon to verify that the password has been entered correctly. Finally, click Verify.
NOTE: After updating your password, we recommend updating the new password in your browser as well, or in any password manager/keychain you use to store and manage your passwords securely.
Forgotten password
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. Then enter your email address (the one you use to sign in) and click CONTINUE. After a short delay, you will receive an email with instructions for setting a new password.
Sign-in lockout
If Linear suspects that someone is trying to break into (sign in to) your account without authorization, the system will block sign-in. Sign-in is automatically locked after the password has been entered incorrectly 10 times in a row.
If your user account is locked, you can remove the lock by clicking Forgot your password? on the sign-in page and following the instructions you receive by email to update your password.
If you still have trouble signing in after resetting your password, we recommend contacting Linear Customer Support.
Frequently asked questions about changing your password
I can’t open the password reset link in the email. What should I do?
- Some email clients may block links, or link opening may be disabled in the email client settings. You can copy the link address by right-clicking the link and selecting “Copy link”. Paste the copied link into your browser’s address bar and press Enter to open the page.
I’m not receiving a new password reset email. What could be the reason?
- First, wait a few minutes. The email may not have been sent/arrived yet.
- In some email clients, consecutive messages from the same sender may be grouped into the same thread and won’t appear as separate emails. Check the previous password reset email you received in case the new message ended up in the same email thread.
- It’s possible that you previously unsubscribed from password reset emails by clicking the link in the message “If you no longer wish to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe here”. In that case, please contact Linear Customer Support and we’ll help remove the block.
