Unfortunately, an assignment doesn’t always result in a sale or finding a tenant. If the assignment ends and the client doesn’t want to create a continuation agreement, we recommend setting the listing status to Listing agreement finished.
The client may also ask to terminate the assignment earlier (e.g. using the cancellation form). In that case, the listing status can be set to Assignment terminated.
NOTE: If the assignment is cancelled and this leads to withdrawing an accepted offer, Linear does not automatically send a message to the parties informing them that the offer has been rejected/withdrawn.
You can update the listing status manually on the listing card’s Summary tab by clicking the current status and selecting the option that matches the situation. Updating the status to Listing agreement finished or Assignment terminated will also hide the listing from publishing channels.
NOTE: The system does not automatically update the listing status to Listing agreement finished even if the assignment expires. This is because if a continuation agreement was made outside the system and hasn’t yet been archived into Linear, the listing would otherwise disappear from publishing channels.
