Efficient work for agents and brokerages is built on clearly defined goals. Goals not only motivate agents, but also give management data-driven support for decision-making. The Goals feature allows you to set and track goals tailored for the real estate industry directly in Linear.
Management can set different sales-related goals—such as acquisition visits, sales, and commission income—for specific time periods and track progress in Linear.
Goals are updated automatically based on the information agents enter into Linear. This keeps progress tracking up to date without any manual work. Agents can also see their own goals and track their own progress and, when needed, the progress of others.
Setting goals
A user with the Setting goals permission enabled can create, edit, and delete goals in Linear’s Goals section. To set a new goal, click New goal.
NOTE: Goals are always set per company/office in Linear. If your company has multiple offices (= Linear environments), you must set goals separately for each office.
When setting a new goal, define the following details:
- Target value – Enter the target you want to reach, e.g., 4 or 10,000 depending on the goal type. The goal type determines whether the value is in euros or a count.
- Goal type – Choose the appropriate option from the list, e.g., Acquisition visit or Commission fee income. After you select a goal type, the system also shows some additional details on how the goal is calculated. You can also find more information about the goal types later in this article.
- Goal period – Choose whether you want to set the goal on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.
- Name of goal – If you’ve already selected a goal type, the system creates a default name for the goal, e.g., Number of acquisition visits. You can still edit the goal name, e.g., Number of acquisition visits 2025.
- Time zone – This is filled in automatically based on the company settings. If needed, you can still change the time zone.
- Start date of the week – Choose whether the system should treat the goal week as starting on Monday or Sunday.
- Starting – Select the date from which tracking will start.
- Ending with – Select how long the goal will be tracked.
- Participants – Select the participant(s) for the goal.
- (Optional) Allow participants to track each other’s progress – Choose whether you want to share progress data among the participants. If you enable this option, participants can see each other’s results and compare how everyone is progressing toward the same goal.
Finally, click Verify once you’ve filled in all the details.
A new goal could look like this, for example:
