Tracking goals as a participant
A participant can track the progress of their assigned goals either in the Goals section or from the agent’s Home page.
The Home view provides a quick overview of whether the goal has been reached, exceeded, or is still in progress. You can also see how much time is left to achieve the goal.
By clicking a goal, the participant opens a view with more information about the goal, including their own progress history since the goal was activated. By selecting See more details, the participant can also view more detailed information about completions, such as the dates on which completions were recorded.
If the participant has the Setting goals permission enabled, they can also edit or delete the goal from this view.
If Allow participants to monitor each other's progress is enabled for the goal, the participant will also be able to select the Progress for all view. In this view, the participant can see not only their own progress, but also the performance of the other participants for the same goal.
In the Progress for all view, the participant can also:
- change the time period for which completions are shown
- choose whether completions are shown as percentages or as amounts by clicking the Percentages or Amount button.
Tracking goals as company management
A manager or any other user with the Setting goals permission enabled can always track the progress of goals created for the company in the Goals section. You can do this by clicking the goal.
If the follower is not a participant in the goal, the My progress panel will be empty, but participants’ progress will be shown in the Progress for all view. In this view, you can also change the time period:
- for which completions are shown
- and choose whether completions are shown as percentages or as amounts by clicking the Percentages or Amount button.
NOTE: In Linear, goals are always tracked per company or per office. If your company has multiple offices (= Linear environments), each office can only track figures based on that office’s own data.
Goal progress is updated automatically at set intervals, so the goal figures are not updated in real time. However, you can request an immediate update in Linear by clicking Update your progress from the three-dot menu on the goal. After this, participants’ progress will be updated immediately for the last 12 weeks.
A manager or any other user with the Setting goals permission enabled can, if needed, edit or delete an existing goal at any time. Editing is useful, for example, when a new agent starts at the company—then they can be added to an existing goal afterwards.
