Overview
Notification Center is Linear’s centralized view where you can see all events relevant to you at a glance. Whenever something happens related to your listing, customer, assignment, or another part of your workflow that you should be aware of, Linear creates a notification in the Notification Center.
The Notification Center brings together events such as:
- A purchase offer, lease agreement, brokerage agreement, or other document is signed.
- An Insider negotiation is proposed, accepted, declined, or completed.
- A saved search finds a new exact match.
- An assignment is about to expire or has expired.
- A new inspection is added to a listing or the inspection status changes.
- The DIAS process moves to a new stage.
- A new potential buyer or tenant gets in touch.
- A new lead is received.
Opening the Notification Center
Open the Notification Center by clicking the bell icon in Linear’s top navigation bar. A panel opens on the right side of the screen, displaying notifications from newest to oldest.
Number of unread notifications
The number of unread notifications is shown next to the bell icon. The count updates automatically approximately once per minute and whenever you return to the browser window.
Panel structure
At the top of the panel, you can see:
- The Notifications heading and the Beta label next to it. Clicking the Beta label opens a list of currently supported notification types.
- Mark as read button, which allows you to mark all unread notifications as read at once.
Below these is the notification list. Each notification includes:
- A notification title that describes the event in plain language (for example, the listing address or customer name).
- An optional additional information row (for example, the reason for the proposal or decline).
- The event time displayed in a user-friendly format (for example, an hour ago, yesterday, or 20 May 2026).
- The three dots menu, which opens additional notification actions.
Good to know: By default, the panel displays the 20 most recent notifications. You can load the next 20 notifications by clicking the Show more button at the bottom.
How notifications are created
Notifications are created automatically whenever something happens in the system that the user should be aware of. You do not need to enable notifications separately or adjust any settings to receive them.
Who receives a notification?
Notifications are sent to users whose role is related to the event in question. For example:
- Listing-related events (for example, a purchase offer being signed or an inspection status changing) are sent to the listing agent and users who have access rights to the listing.
- Insider negotiation events are sent to both agents.
- Notifications related to assignment expiration are sent to the agent responsible for the assignment.
- Notifications related to leads and potential buyers are sent to the agent responsible for the lead or listing.
Good to know: Notifications are not created for your own actions. For example, if you sign a purchase offer on your own behalf, the notification is delivered to the other parties, but not to you.
When does a notification appear?
When the system creates a notification, it usually appears in the Notification Center within about a minute. The unread notification count updates automatically regardless of whether the Notification Center is open or closed.
Notification Types by Category
Notifications are divided into nine categories. Below is a short description of each category. You can also view the same list from the Beta label at the top of the Notification Center.
Signed Agreements and Documents
A notification is created when any of the following documents has been signed by all parties:
- Listing agreement
- Buyer representation agreement
- Purchase offer
- Lease agreement
- Property description appendix
- Property information form
- Custom documents (when the document has been sent for signing from the Documents section in Linear)
Insider Negotiations
A notification is created whenever something happens in an Insider negotiation that requires your attention or that you should be aware of. Examples of such events include:
- A negotiation is proposed to you.
- A negotiation is accepted, declined, or proposed again.
- A negotiation is continued or paused.
- A negotiation is about to expire or has expired.
- A deal has been agreed upon.
- The referral fee split has been changed.
Notifications Related to Insider Publication Expiration
A notification is created when:
- An Insider publication is about to expire
- An Insider publication has expired
Assignment Expiration Notifications
A notification is created when an assignment is about to expire or has expired. This helps ensure that renewing the agreement does not go unnoticed.
Saved Search Matches and Saved Search Expirations
A notification is created when:
- Your saved search finds a new Linear or Insider listing.
- A saved search has expired
More information about how saved searches work can be found in the guide: How does a saved search work in Insider?
Inspection-Related Notifications
A notification is created when:
- A new inspection request has been sent for a listing
- An inspection has been resubmitted for review
- An inspection has been approved
- An inspection has been rejected
DIAS Process Progress
A notification is created when a new stage occurs in a DIAS transaction that requires the agent’s attention or that they should be aware of. Examples include bank approval or the process moving to the next stage.
New Buyer and Tenant Candidates
A notification is created when a new buyer or tenant candidate registers interest in your listing.
New Leads
A notification is created when a new lead arrives in the system where you are assigned as the agent.
Unread and Read Notifications
Each notification is either unread or read. The notification status is clearly visible in the panel: unread notifications are visually highlighted, while read notifications appear lighter.
Marking a Notification as Read
A notification can be marked as read in three ways:
- By clicking the notification row. When you open a notification, it is automatically marked as read.
- From the three-dot menu by selecting Mark as read.
- Using the Mark all as read button at the top of the panel. This button marks all unread notifications as read at once.
Marking a Read Notification as Unread
If you want to mark a notification as unread again, select Mark as unread from the notification’s three-dot menu.
This is useful, for example, when you want to return to the notification later and keep it among your unread notifications.
Deleting a Notification
You can delete an individual notification by selecting Delete from the notification’s three-dot menu.
A deleted notification will no longer appear in the Notification Center. However, the actual event itself (for example, an event related to a listing, Insider negotiation, or agreement) remains unchanged — only the notification is removed.
Tip: In most cases, the Mark all as read function is a better option than deleting individual notifications. Read notifications remain in the Notification Center history, so you can return to them later if needed.
Where Notifications Take You
The main purpose of a notification is to quickly direct you to the right place to continue working. When you click a notification, Linear opens the related listing, customer, or process directly on the correct tab.
Opening a notification works slightly differently depending on the notification type:
- Signed documents open the correct tab on the listing card (for example Trading, Renting, or Documents).
- Insider negotiations open the Insider negotiation details.
- Notifications related to an expiring assignment open the listing’s Commission tab.
- Saved search matches open the matched listing or customer profile.
- Notifications related to inspections open the correct inspection tab on the listing based on the inspection type.
- DIAS events open the listing’s DIAS tab.
- Potential buyers and tenants open the related view on the listing.
- Leads open the lead view.
Managing Notifications
Bulk Actions
Currently, the only bulk action available is Mark all as read, which marks all unread notifications as read at once.
This function is useful, for example, after a longer absence when you want to quickly review your notifications and start with a clean slate.
Emails and other channels
The Notification Center brings together notifications generated within the system. However, some important events, such as DIAS process updates and exact search alert matches, are also sent by email.
Mobile use
The Notification Center also works on mobile devices. In mobile view, the panel opens in full-screen width, but otherwise works the same way as in the desktop version.
Good to know: The Notification Center currently does not support browser push notifications on mobile devices.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I see a notification for an event that I know has happened?
There may be several reasons for this. The most common are:
- The notification type is not yet supported.
- You triggered the event yourself, in which case the notification is delivered to other parties, but not to you.
- Your user permissions do not cover the listing or process related to the event.
- The notification has already been marked as read or deleted.
Will I also receive the notification by email?
The Notification Center displays notifications generated within the system. Some events, such as exact search alert matches and DIAS process stages that require action from the agent, also send an email notification through their own functionality.
Can I disable certain notification types?
Not yet. At the moment, all supported notification types are shown in the Notification Center.
However, you can mark individual notifications as read or delete them if you no longer want them to appear in the Notification Center.
How long are notifications retained?
Notifications remain in the Notification Center until you remove them. You can browse older notifications using the Show more button.
How can I quickly find the related item again from a notification?
By clicking a notification, the system takes you directly to the correct listing, customer, or process. If you have already removed the notification, you can still find the related event in the history of the listing or customer.
What is the difference between the Notification Center and Property Alert?
Property Alert searches for listings that match your customer’s search criteria and creates matches from them. The Notification Center then collects these matches together with other system events.
In other words, Property Alert is the source of the notification, and the Notification Center is where the notification is displayed.
Can I share a notification from the Notification Center with a colleague?
Not directly. Notifications are delivered to users who have a role related to the event and the required access rights.
If you want your colleague to receive similar notifications, make sure they have access rights to the relevant listing or are included in the process related to the event. After that, similar notifications will be delivered to them automatically.
Can notifications be searched or filtered?
Not yet. Currently, notifications are displayed in chronological order from newest to oldest.
Notifications cannot yet be filtered, for example, by notification type or date.
